Introduction of Worm Screw Conveyor
Worm screw conveyor, also called a worm conveyor or worm auger, is a mechanical device used to transport bulk materials such as grain, pellets, powder, and other granular or powdery materials. It consists of a helical screw blade, known as a worm or auger, which rotates inside a trough or casing.
Worm screw conveyors can be designed to operate in various orientations, including horizontal, inclined, and vertical, depending on the application's specific requirements. They can also be customized to handle a wide range of materials, including abrasive and corrosive substances, and can be constructed from various materials, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and plastic.
When it is working, the motor drives the rotating spiral blade to transport the material, so that the force of the material not rotating together with the worm screw conveyor blade is the weight of the material itself and the friction resistance of the screw conveyor cabinet to the material. Under the drag of the screw shaft, the material moves in the direction of the discharge port, and then transported to the bunker.
Types of worm screw conveyor
Horizontal type: horizontal arrangement, suitable for conveying within 40 meters, multi-point feeding, multi-point unloading.
Inclined type: the inclined angle is 20°-60°, and the conveying length does not exceed 20 meters.
Vertical type: suitable for vertically conveying materials, conveying powdery or granular materials from low to high, the vertical lifting height does not exceed 8 meters, and the feeding volume does not exceed 50 tons.

Shaftless Worm

Worm with dual axis design

Structure of Worm Screw Conveyor
Worm screw conveyor is mainly composed of driving device, machine head assembly, screw shaft, groove lining plate, feeding port, discharging port, cover plate (when necessary), base and so on.
Driving device: adopt helical gear reducer. When it is horizontal, the reducer is opposite to the outlet, and when it is inclined, the reducer is at the outlet.
Slot: U-shaped, with a rain cover on the upper part. Material is stainless steel or carbon steel.
Non-axial helix: stainless steel or 16Mn.
Tank Liner: Nylon or polyethylene board, nylon material.
Inlet and outlet: There are two kinds of square and round. Generally, the form of water inlet and outlet is determined by the user, mainly square.
Layout of Worm Screw Conveyor
1、The arrangement of the inlet and outlet of the Worm screw fedder
The inlet and outlet of the Worm Screw Conveyor are designed according to the layout of the existing feeding device in the user's factory. The most common design of the Worm Screw Conveyor is a single inlet and outlet or multiple inlets and outlets. The screw is designed as a whole, and the direction of rotation unanimous.
Worm Screw Conveyor can be designed with coaxial bi-directional double inlet and single outlet according to the actual layout (the inlet is at both ends of the conveyor, and the outlet is in the middle of the conveyor), and the relative rotation of the worm will be fed by the inlet on both sides. The incoming materials are transported to the middle outlet for delivery. Of course, it is also possible to design the feed inlet in the middle of the screw, and the reversely conveyed screw can simultaneously transport the material to the discharge ports at both ends of the conveyor.
2. Worm screw fedder installation form
Horizontal conveying (ground): The most common form of conveying, which can be closed or open.
Horizontal conveying (suspension): It can be suspended at the bottom or roof of the elevated structure to coordinate with production. For the consideration of transportation safety and the bearing capacity of the suspension surface, only small-scale equipment is usually used for suspension installation.
Inclined conveying (mobile or fixed): In order to avoid the exponential decline of the conveying volume, the conveying angle is usually designed below 30°. According to whether the actual conveying site changes frequently, choose fixed conveying or mobile conveying.
Can provide hanging type, ground and hanging mixed fixed inclined type, mobile type (can be rotated around the axis of the feed port) and other special installation methods according to user requirements.
Application
Worm screw conveyors are divided into two types: shafted and shaftless. The shafted screw conveyor is suitable for non-viscous dry powder materials and small granular materials. (For example: cement, fly ash, lime, grain, etc.) The shaft screw conveyor is suitable for conveying materials that are viscous and easily entangled. (For example: sludge, biomass, garbage, etc., the screw conveyor is a kind of conveying equipment with strong sealing performance and good environmental protection performance. The use of fully enclosed conveying and easy-to-clean screw surfaces can ensure environmental sanitation and the delivered materials are not Contaminated and not leaking.
